B. Removing Snow from Engine After each use, remove snow from the following areas: • Oil fill cap • Fuel fill cap • Linkage • Cooling Fins Removing snow will ease operation of the recoil starter rope and reduce the risk of water contamination when opening oil and fuel fill caps. See Figure 22. C. Spark Plug Check spark plug yearly or every 100 operating hours. 1. Clean area around spark plug. 2. Remove and inspect spark plug. 3. Replace spark plug if porcelain is cracked or if elec- trodes are: • Pitted • Burned • Fouled with deposits 4. Check electrode gap with wire feeler gauge and set gap to .030 (0.76mm) if necessary. See Figure 23. 5. Install spark plug and tighten securely. NOTE A resistor spark plug must be used for replacement. Contact your Authorized Tecumseh Servicing Dealer for a Tecumseh Resistor Spark Plug. D. Alternator (Optional) For alternator related electrical problems such as: • Inoperative starter • Discharged battery • Fuse replacement • Alternator maintenance/repairs See your equipment manufacturer's instructions and an Authorized Tecumseh Servicing Dealer. E. Carburetor If you think your carburetor needs adjusting, see your nearest Authorized Tecumseh Servicing Dealer. Engine performance should not be affected at altitudes up to 7,000 feet (2,134 meters). For operation at higher elevations, contact your Authorized Tecumseh Servicing Dealer. F. Engine Speed To avoid serious injury NEVER tamper with the factory setting of engine governor. Removing Snow from Engine
After each use, remove snow from the following areas:
Oil fill cap
Fuel fill cap
• Linkage
Cooling Fins
Removing snow will ease operation of the recoil starter
rope and reduce the risk of water contamination when

C.
Spark Plug
Check spark plug yearly or every 100 operating hours.
1.
Clean area around spark plug.
2.
Remove and inspect spark plug.
3.
Replace spark plug if porcelain is cracked or if elec-
trodes are:
• Pitted
• Burned
Fouled with deposits
4.
Check electrode gap with wire feeler gauge and set
gap to .030 (0.76mm) if necessary. See Figure 23.
5.
Install spark plug and tighten securely.
NOTE
A resistor spark plug must be used for replacement. Contact
your Authorized Tecumseh Servicing Dealer for a
Tecumseh Resistor Spark Plug.
D.
Alternator (Optional)
For alternator related electrical problems such as:
Inoperative starter
Discharged battery
Fuse replacement
Alternator maintenance/repairs
See your equipment manufacturer’s instructions and an
Authorized Tecumseh Servicing Dealer.

Carburetor
If you think your carburetor needs adjusting, see your
nearest Authorized Tecumseh Servicing Dealer. Engine
