SAILING-TOUCH * SETTING > SPEED : DISTANCE AND LENGTH Set a distance or a length to enable the SAILING-TOUCH to respectively calculate an average speed or an instantaneous speed. 2 sec. or or Speed display Setting mode : increase length or distance : decrease length or distance Validate setting GLOSSARY > SPEED Description of function This function uses the chronograph and a chosen distance to calculate either the average or instantaneous speed of a moving object such as a boat, a car, a bike or a man. Average speed In order to calculate your average speed over a chosen distance, simply insert the distance in the watch using the pushers and use the chronograph to time your run. Instantaneous speed The speed function of your Sailing-Touch can also let you know the instantaneous speed of a moving object, e.g.: a boat. Enter the length of the boat in the watch and time the boat when passing a fixed object. For example: start the chronograph when the prow of the boat reaches a buoy and then stop the chronograph when the stern reaches the buoy. Note 1 The distance of the run or the length can even be entered in the watch after timing. Note 2 Measurement units can be changed in the options menu. See page 6 of this manual. Note 3 "---kmh" in the display means that the chronograph was not activated.
