For the Windows® XP Professional operating system when connected to a domain server, follow these steps to power down the computer using the Standby command: 1 Click the Start button, then select Shut down. The Shut Down Windows dialog box appears. 2 Select Standby from the drop-down list of options. 3 Click OK. The computer saves the status of all open programs and files to memory, turns off the display, and goes into a low-power mode. The on/off light blinks to indicate the machine is in Standby mode. Starting again from Standby To start the computer from Standby mode, press the power button. The computer returns to the screen you were using.
