Chapter 8: DVD Playback Note: You cannot adjust the following items while a DVD is playing: • Optical Output Format (- page 49) • Audio Language (- page 48) • DVD Audio (- page 65) • Menu Language (- page 32) • V-Chip (parental control) setting (- page 51) • DVD Aspect Ratio (- page 63) If you want to adjust any of the above, stop the DVD by pressing D twice, and then adjust (- "Resume feature"). Note: Strong static electricity may affect the DVD player's operation and cause it to work improperly. If this happens, turn OFF the POWER, disconnect and then reconnect the AC power cord, and turn ON the TV again. About DVD VCD CD The DVD VCD CD icons on the heading bar show the playable discs for the function described under that heading. DVD : You can use this function with DVD video discs. VCD : You can use this function with Video CDs. CD : You can use this function with Audio CDs and CD-R/ RW discs. To start playback from stop mode: Press S. To pause playback (still mode): Press A during playback. To resume normal playback, press S. Note: The sound is muted during still mode. To stop playback: Press D. To remove the disc: 1 Press d on the remote control or OPEN/CLOSE on the TV. The disc will come out halfway. 2 Press d again to remove the disc or press S to play again. Note: • If a non-compatible disc is loaded, "DISK REGION INCORRECT" will appear on the TV screen. In this case, check your disc again (- page 7). • Some discs may take a minute or so to start playback. • If you insert a single-sided disc the wrong way, "READING" will appear on the display for about 30-60 seconds and then "BAD DISC" will display until you remove the disc. • Some discs may not resume playing the same scene after stopping. • Some DVD playback operation may be intentionally fixed by the software producers. Since this TV plays DVDs according to the disc contents as designed by the software producers, some playback features may not be available. Also refer to the instructions supplied with the DVDs. • Do not move the TV during playback. Doing so may damage the disc. If you want to move the TV to another place or room, be sure to eject the disc and turn off the power beforehand. • If the disc does not load when it is first inserted into the DVD disc slot, remove the disc once and try to load the disc again. • Do not put any objects other than discs in the disc slot. Doing so may cause the TV to malfunction. • When you press a button, there may be a slight delay before the function activates. 62

Chapter 8: DVD Playback
Note:
Strong static electricity may affect the DVD player’s
operation and cause it to work improperly. If this happens, turn
OFF the POWER, disconnect and then reconnect the AC
power cord, and turn ON the TV again.

icons on the heading bar show the playable
discs for the function described under that heading.
: You can use this function with DVD video discs.
: You can use this function with Video CDs.
: You can use this function with Audio CDs and CD-R/
RW discs.
To start playback from stop mode:
Press
S
.
To pause playback (still mode):
Press
A
during playback.
To resume normal playback, press

Note:

stopping.
Some DVD playback operation may be intentionally fixed by
the software producers. Since this TV plays DVDs according
to the disc contents as designed by the software producers,
some playback features may not be available. Also refer to
the instructions supplied with the DVDs.
Do not move the TV during playback. Doing so may damage
the disc. If you want to move the TV to another place or
room, be sure to eject the disc and turn off the power
beforehand.
If the disc does not load when it is first inserted into the DVD
disc slot, remove the disc once and try to load the disc
again.
