148 Exploring Your Options Exploring audio features DEFINITION: A .wav (pronounced "wave") file is a Windows® format for storing sound. TECHNICAL NOTE: If you record MP3 files, you will only be able to play them on a device capable of playing MP3 files. Using a microphone To record high-quality sounds, you can use the internal microphone or attach an external microphone: 1 Connect an external microphone to the computer, by locating the microphone jack near the front of the right side of the computer. 2 Plug the microphone cord into the jack. 3 Turn on the microphone. NOTE You may use the built-in microphone located on the front of your computer. 4 Click Start, point to All Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, then click Sound Recorder.

Using a microphone
To record high-quality sounds, you can use the internal
