DVD-RAM: DVD Specifications for DVD-RAM Disc for Version 2.0, Version 2.1 or Version 2.2 Hitachi Maxell Ltd. ■ This drive cannot use discs that allow writing faster than 8 speed (DVDR, DVD+R), 4 speed (DVD-RW, DVD+RW), 5 speed (DVD-RAM), 2.4 speed (DVD-R DL, Double Layer supported model only), 2 speed (DVD-R DL, Double Layer supported model only). ■ 2.6GB and 5.2GB DVD-RAM media cannot be read from or written to. ■ DISC created in DVD-R DL format4 (Layer Jump Recording) cannot be read. ■ If the disc is poor in quality, dirty or damaged, writing or rewriting errors may occur. Be careful to check the disc for dirt or damage before you use it. ■ The actual number of rewrites to CD-RW, DVD-RW, DVD+RW or DVDRAM is affected by the quality of the disc and the way it is used. ■ There are two types of DVD-R discs: authoring and general use discs. Do not use authoring discs. Only general use discs can be written to by a computer drive. ■ You can use DVD-RAM discs that can be removed from a cartridge and DVD-RAM discs designed without a cartridge. ■ Other DVD-ROM drives for computers or other DVD players may not be able to read DVD-R/-RW or DVD+R/+RW discs.
