Mobile Computing Running the computer on battery power 95 Maximizing battery life A high-capacity battery pack can be recharged many times. Over time it will gradually lose its ability to hold a charge. To maximize the life of your battery: ❖ Avoid leaving the computer plugged in and unused for more than a few hours. Overcharging the battery may shorten its life. ❖ If you are not going to use the computer for a long period of time, remove the main battery, and the secondary battery (if fitted). ❖ Alternate between batteries if you have a spare. ❖ Make sure your computer is turned off or in Hibernation mode when you are replacing a battery. ❖ Store spare batteries in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight. NOTE: For optimum DVD performance, Toshiba recommends that you play DVDs while running on AC power rather than on battery power. Power management Your computer ships with the power management options preset to a configuration that will provide the most stable operating environment and optimum system performance for both AC power and battery modes. CAUTION: Changes to these settings may result in system performance or stability issues. Users who are not completely familiar with the power management component of the system should use the preset configuration. For assistance with setup changes, contact Toshiba's InTouch Center.
