TOSHIBA Satellite U300 / Satellite Pro U300 / PORTEGE M600 / TECRA M8 Series Appendix B Display Controller and Modes Display controller The display controller interprets software commands into hardware commands that turn particular picture elements (pels) on or off. The controller is an advanced Video Graphics Array (VGA) that provides Graphics Array (XGA) support for the internal LCD and external monitors. The following is available: ■ 13.3", 1280 horizontal × 800 vertical pixels A high-resolution external monitor connected to the computer can display up to 2048 horizontal and 1536 vertical pixels at 16 M colors. (Depends on the model you purchased.) The display controller also controls the video mode, which uses industry standard rules to govern the screen resolution and the maximum number of colors that can be displayed on screen. Software written for a given video mode will run on any computer that supports the mode. The computer's display controller supports all VGA modes, the most widely used industry standards. This series are equipped with Mobile Intel® 965 Express display adaptors. The video modes supported by the display chipset are shown in following tables. User's Manual B-1
