Modem Selection If the computer cannot recognize the internal modem, a dialogue box is displayed. Select the COM port for your modem to use. If you are using the computer in Japan, technical regulations described in the Telecommunications Business Law require that you select Japan region mode. It is illegal to use the modem in Japan with any other selection. Connecting To connect the internal modem cable, follow the steps below. ■ In case of a lightning storm, unplug the modem cable from the telephone jack. ■ Do not connect the modem to a digital telephone line. A digital line will damage the modem. 1. Plug one end of the modular cable into the modem jack. 2.
