Open dialogue box, if the modem and Telephony Current Location region code do not match. A warning dialogue box is displayed if current settings for region code and telephony location are incorrect. Modem Selection If the computer cannot recognize the internal modem, a dialogue box is displayed. Select the COM port for your modem to use. Dialing Properties Select this item to display the dialling properties. If you are using the computer in Japan, technical regulations described in the Telecommunications Business Law require that you select Japan region mode. It is illegal to use the modem in Japan with any other selection. Connecting To connect the internal modem cable, follow the steps below. ■ In case of a lightning storm, unplug the modem cable from the telephone jack. ■ Do not connect the modem to a digital telephone line. A digital line will damage the modem. 1. Plug one end of the modular cable into the modem jack. 2. Plug the other end of the modular cable into a telephone jack Connecting the internal modem Do not pull on the cable or move the computer while the cable is connected. If you find that the modem speed is low or communication is interrupted when you are using the modem, please set the CPU speed to Maximum within the TOSHIBA Power Saver utility. Connecting
