Smart Card slot This slot allows you to install a Smart Card device. Some models are equipped with a Smart Card slot. Optical disc drive The computer may be configured with an optical disc drive. 2.6GB and 5.2GB DVD-RAM media cannot be read from or written to. ExpressCard slot This slot allows you to install a single ExpressCard/34 device. Some models are equipped with a ExpressCard slot. Memory media slot This slot lets you insert an SD™/SDHC™/ SDXC™ memory card, miniSD™/microSD™ Card and MultiMediaCard™. Refer to the Optional devices section in Chapter 3, Operating Basics for more information. Universal Serial Bus (USB 3.0) port One Universal Serial Bus port, which complies to the USB 3.0 standard, is provided on the right side of the computer. The USB 3.0 port is compliant with USB 3.0 standard and backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices. LAN jack This jack lets you connect to a LAN. The adaptor has built-in support for Ethernet LAN (10 megabits per second, 10BASE-T), Fast Ethernet LAN (100 megabits per second, 100BASE-TX) or Gigabit Ethernet LAN (1000 megabits per second, 1000BASE-T). Refer to chapter 3, Operating Basics, for details. Do not connect any cable other than a LAN cable to the LAN jack. It could cause damage or malfunction.
