Headphone Connections STEP 1: Align the multi-pin amplifier and headphone connectors as shown and carefully insert them together, making sure not to force the pins. IMPORTANT: Match the arrow to the square tab to ensure proper connection. STEP 2: Connect the four colored audio jacks to the corresponding inputs and outputs on your sound card, as indicated in the table below. STEP 3: Insert the USB connector into any USB socket on your PC. NOTE: The USB connection only provides power to the amplifier. No USB data is transmitted to the amplifier from your PC. USB Power Sound Card Jack Cent er / Sub Mic Front Surround Color Orange Pink Green Black Headphone Connections STEP 4: Select the microphone as the recording source in your sound card's control panel. Then adjust the volume level and sensitivity for adequate response when speaking into the mic. STEP 5: Set your sound card for 5.1 channel output and adjust the volume settings to a comfortable level. Refer to your sound card documentation for details on setting the volume levels. STEP 6: To use 5.1 speakers along with the headphones, connect the included splitter cable as shown below. Be sure to match the three colored amplifier jacks with the matching colored sockets on the cable. This allows you to turn down the speakers when using the headphones so you do not have to reach behind your PC to disconnect the headphones and reconnect the speakers. Adjusting Volume Levels 12 3 4 5 Inline volume controls include: 1. Front Channels 2. Surround Channels 3. Center Channels 4. Vibration Sub woofer 5. Master Volume & On/Off Switch Control 5 adjusts the master volume level and power for the amplification unit. When powered on, a blue LED will glow above the HPA2 logo. In most cases, controls 1 through 4 should be set to maximum and the volume should be adjusted with the master volume control (5). NOTE: Be sure to set the amplifier volume to a safe and comfortable level to avoid ear damage over long term use. Using the Microphone The microphone includes a locking mechanism to ensure good contact while in use. To connect the mic: A. Align markers B. Push and twist STEP 1: Position the mic so it is facing the headphone cord. Then align the markers on the left ear cup and mic boom as shown above in figure A. STEP 2: Gently push the mic into the socket and turn it away from the cable, towards the front of the headphones as shown above in figure B. To remove the mic, turn it back towards the cable side, align the markers and gently pull it out of the socket. When using the microphone, be sure the front of the mic faces your mouth. The front has a curved outline as C. shown in figure C. Excessive force or failure to align the mic correctly may cause permanent damage to the headphone or mic.
