Handset keys and how they work Key name (and icon) Up ( ) What it does - In standby: increase the ringer volume. - During a call: increase the call volume. - In a menu or any list: move the cursor up one line. - In standby or during a call: open the Caller ID list. CID/right ( ) - During text entry: move the cursor to the right. - In standby: decrease the ringer volume. Down ( ) - During a call: decrease the call volume. - In a menu or any list: move cursor down one line. Menu/select - In standby: open the menu. - In a menu or any list: select the highlighted item. End ( ) - During a call: hang up. - In a menu or any list: exit and go to standby. - While entering text: delete one character, or press and hold to delete all the characters. - In standby: page another handset using the Clear/intercom intercom (if expansion includes a minimum of 2 handsets). - During a call: put a call on hold (to start a call transfer with minimum of 2 handsets). - In standby or during a call: open the phonebook. Phonebook/left ( ) - In a menu: go back to the previous screen. - During text entry: move the cursor to the left. Talk/flash ( ) - In standby: start a telephone call (get a dial tone). - While the phone is ringing: answer incoming call. - During a call: switch to a waiting call. Redial/pause ( ) Messages ( ) mute - In standby: open the redial list. - While entering a phone number: insert a 2-second pause. - In standby: access your voice mail (see page 16). - During a call: mute the microphone. - While the phone is ringing: mute the ringer for this call only.
