Chapter 2 JUMPERS The mainboard provides jumpers for setting some mainboard functions. This section will explain how to change the settings of the mainboard functions using the jumpers. Clear CMOS Connector: CLEAR_CMOS The onboard CMOS RAM stores system configuration data and has an onboard battery power supply. To reset the CMOS settings, set the jumper on pins 1 and 2 while the system is off. Return the jumper to pins 2 and 3 afterwards. Setting the jumper while the system is on will damage the mainboard. Keep Setting Keep CMOS setting Clear CMOS setting 1 2 3 OFF ON ON ON ON OFF 123 Clear 123 Caution: Except when clearing the RTC RAM, never remove the cap on CLEAR_CMOS jumper default position. Removing the cap will cause system boot failure. Avoid clearing the CMOS while the system is on; it will damage the mainboard. COM2-COM4 Voltage Selector: J1-J3 Some devices require a different voltage than the default voltage on the board. J1-J3 enable you to choose between 5V and 12V on COM2-COM4. Since pin 9 on COM2-COM4 is reserved for switching between 5V and 12V, COM2-COM4 cannot carry an RI signal. The following settings apply to J1-J3. 5V Setting 5V 12V 1 2 3 ON ON OFF OFF ON ON 123 12V 123 24
