Charger overview 1 1 - Charging pole Install the battery Install the battery as shown below. • Use only supplied battery. • If the handset will not be used for a long time, disconnect and remove the battery to prevent possible leakage. 1 THIS SIDE UP 2 Connect and charge the battery • Use only the adapter provided. • Charge the battery provided with this product only in accordance with the instructions and limitations specified in this manual. • The adapter's prongs are not designed to hold the weight of the handset. Make sure you connect the adapter to a wall outlet that is in vertical or floor mount position. Do not connect it to undermount and ceiling outlet. Otherwise, your handset would fall out of the outlet. Connect the charger 2 1 Charge the battery Once you have installed the battery and placed the handset in the charger, the CHARGE light indicates the battery status (see the table below). • For best performance, keep the handset in the charger when not in use. • The battery is fully charged after 12 hours of continuous charging. CHARGE Battery status light Flashes red every 10 seconds The battery has very little charge and the handset is not in charger. The handset cannot dial out. Action Charge without interruption (at least 30 minutes). Red The battery has Charge without enough charge interruption to be used for a (at least short time. 30 minutes). To keep the battery charged, place it in the charger when not in use. 3 Lights overview The following table summarizes the lights patterns on the handset under various conditions. Light Pattern CHARGE light • Red when the handset battery is charging. • Flashes red every 10 seconds when the handset battery is low and not charging. • Green when the handset battery is fully charged. • Alternates red and green quickly when handset registration is in progress. • Alternates red and green slowly when the handset is not registered and not in charger. Visual ringer indicator • Flashes orange slowly when the handset is receiving an incoming call. • Green when the handset is on earpiece mode. • Flashes green slowly when the handset received an incoming call. • Flashes green twice every 3 seconds when the line is in use while the handset is idle. • Orange when the handset is on speakerphone mode. Voice prompts The following table summarizes voice prompts you hear under certain conditions. Voice Prompt Condition "Not registered" Any key is pressed when the handset is not registered. "Out of range" Any key is pressed when the handset is out of range. "Low battery" A photo speed dial key, , or is pressed when the handset battery is low. Before use Add and register a photo speed dial handset Register each new SN5307 handset to your SN5127/SN5147 telephone base before use. Your telephone system supports a maximum of four handsets. SN5127 base SN5147 base • Charge the new handset without interruption for at least 30 minutes before registering it to the telephone base. To register a photo speed dial handset to the SN5127 telephone base 1. Press and hold PAGE at the telephone base for about five seconds until the visual ringer indicator light turns on. Release PAGE. 2. Put the handset in the charger. The handset CHARGE light alternates red and green quickly to indicate the registration is in progress. 3. You hear a confirmation tone when the registration process completes. It takes up to 60 seconds to complete the registration. 4. If registration fails, you hear an error tone, and the CHARGE light alternates red and green slowly when it is taken out of the charger. Start again from Step 1 above. • You cannot register a handset if any other system device is in use. • When you already have four registered handsets, and you try to register another handset to the telephone base, you hear four beeps from the telephone base. To register a photo speed dial handset to the SN5147 telephone base 1. Press and hold at the telephone base for about five seconds until the visual ringer indicator light turns on. Release . 2. Put the handset in the charger. The handset CHARGE light alternates red and green quickly to indicate the registration is in progress. 4. If registration fails, you hear an error tone, and the CHARGE light alternates red and green slowly when it is taken out of the charger. Start again from Step 1 above. • You cannot register a handset if any other system device is in use. • When you already have four registered handsets, and you try to register another handset to the telephone base, you hear four beeps from the telephone base. Operating range This cordless handset operates with the maximum power allowed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Even so, this handset and telephone base can communicate over a certain distance which can vary with the locations of the telephone base and handset, the weather, and the layout of your home or office. When the handset is out of range, the handset plays the voice prompt "Out of range" if any key is pressed. If there is a call while the handset is out of range, it may not ring, or if it does ring, the call may not connect well when you press . Move closer to the telephone base, then press to answer the call. During a call, if the handset is moved out of range, the call will end automatically, and you will hear a notification tone. 3. You hear a confirmation tone when the registration process completes. It takes up to 60 seconds to complete the registration. Photo speed dial Your handset has four photo speed dial keys. It retrieves the four direct memory entries set in your SN5127 telephone base, or retrieves the first four direct memory entries set in your SN5147 telephone base. Make sure you store the direct memory M1, M2, M3 and M4 on your telephone system respectively. For details, see the Set photo speed dial section in the Quick start guide or online Complete user's manual of the telephone base. Insert photos for speed dial keys You can insert photos into the photo speed dial compartments, or write the contact names on cards and insert them into the compartments. To add a photo, crop your desired photo into the size specified below, and then insert the photo into the photo speed dial compartment, as shown below. • The handset is shipped with protective stickers covering the photo speed dial compartments. Remove the protective sticker before use. 14.5 mm 26.8 mm 2 1 Settings Adjust ringer volume You can adjust the ringer volume level, or turn the ringer off. • When the handset is not in use, press VOL- or VOL+. • When the ringer volume is set to off, the handset still rings when you press PAGE/INTERCOM at the telephone base. Caller ID announce The voice announce caller ID feature lets you know who the caller is. When you have an incoming call, the handset speaks "Call from..." and the name of the caller based on the phonebook in your telephone base or the caller ID information. If the caller's name is private or unknown, the phone number up to the last 11 digits will be announced. If the caller's phone number is also private or unknown, no information will be announced. To turn on or off this feature, refer to the Caller ID announce section in the Quick start guide or the online Complete user's manual of the telephone base. • To use the caller ID announce feature, you must subscribe to caller ID service from your telephone service provider. Using the photo speed dial handset Make a call • Press a photo speed dial key to dial. -OR- • Press or , and then a photo speed dial key to dial. Answer a call • Press or . End a call • Press or place the handset back in the charger. Speakerphone • During a call, press to switch between the speakerphone and the earpiece. Adjust listening Volume • During a call, press VOL- or VOL+. Call waiting When you subscribe to call waiting service from your telephone service provider, you hear an alert tone if there is an incoming call while you are already on a call. • Press to put the current call on hold and take the new call. • Press at any time to switch back and forth between calls. Temporary ringer silencing When the telephone is ringing, you can temporarily silence the handset ringer without disconnecting the call. The next call rings normally at the preset volume. • Press VOL- or . Join a call in progress You can use a maximum of two devices at a time on an outside call. • Press or to join the call. • To exit the call, press or place the handset back in the charger. The call continues until all devices hang up. Find handset You can use the PAGE/INTERCOM feature on the telephone base to find misplaced handsets. To stop the paging tone: • Press a photo speed dial key, , or to take the intercom call. • Press or VOL- to mute the paging tone. Deregister handset Your telephone system supports a maximum of four cordless handsets. If you have registered four handsets and you want to register another SN5307 handset, you have to deregister all handsets first. Then, register your desired handsets individually. • Deregister with caution! Once done, all handsets will be deregistered from your telephone system. • You cannot deregister all handsets if any other system device is in use. • Even if your handsets have run out of battery, you can still deregister them by following the instructions in this section. • To register any cordless handset back to the telephone base, refer to the user's manual of your SN5127/SN5147 telephone for details. For SN5127/SN5147 telephone 1. Press and hold PAGE at the telephone base for about five seconds until the visual ringer indicator light turns on. Keep holding PAGE until the visual ringer indicator light begins to flash. Release PAGE. 2. Immediately press PAGE again while the light is still flashing. You hear a confirmation tone and the CHARGE light on the handset flashes when the deregistration process completes. It takes about 10 seconds to complete the deregistration. If deregistration fails, you need to reset the system and try again. To reset, unplug the power and the telephone line cord from the telephone base. Then, plug the cords back in again. ECO mode This power conserving technology reduces power consumption for optimal battery performance. The ECO mode activates automatically whenever the handset is synchronized with the telephone base. General product care Taking care of your telephone Your cordless telephone contains sophisticated electronic parts, so it must be treated with care. What’s in the box
Your product package contains the

Install the battery
Install the battery as shown below.
• Use only supplied battery.
• If the handset will not be used for a long
time, disconnect and remove the battery to
prevent possible leakage.

Photo speed dial
Your handset has four photo speed dial
keys. It retrieves the four direct memory
entries set in your
SN5127
telephone base,
or retrieves the first four direct memory
entries set in your
SN5147
telephone base.
Make sure you store the direct memory
M1

M2
,
M3
and
M4
on your telephone
system respectively. For details, see the
Set photo speed dial
section in the Quick
start guide or online Complete user’s
manual of the telephone base.
Insert photos for speed dial
keys
You can insert photos into the photo speed
dial compartments, or write the contact
names on cards and insert them into the
compartments.
To add a photo, crop your desired photo
into the size specified below, and then
insert the photo into the photo speed dial
compartment, as shown below.

Settings
Adjust ringer volume
You can adjust the ringer volume level, or
turn the ringer off.

Caller ID announce
The voice announce caller ID feature lets
you know who the caller is. When you have
an incoming call, the handset speaks “

or the caller ID information.
If the caller’s name is private or unknown,
the phone number up to the last 11 digits
will be announced. If the caller’s phone
number is also private or unknown, no
information will be announced.

manual of the telephone base.
• To use the caller ID announce feature, you
must subscribe to caller ID service from your
telephone service provider.
For SN5127/SN5147 telephone
1. Press and hold
PAGE
at the telephone
base for about five seconds until the
visual ringer indicator light turns on.
Keep holding

until the visual
ringer indicator light begins to flash.
Release

2. Immediately press

again while the
light is still flashing.
You hear a confirmation tone and the
CHARGE
light on the handset flashes when
the deregistration process completes. It
takes about 10 seconds to complete the
deregistration.
If deregistration fails, you need to reset the
system and try again. To reset, unplug the
power and the telephone line cord from
the telephone base. Then, plug the cords
back in again.
ECO mode
This power conserving technology reduces
power consumption for optimal battery
performance. The ECO mode activates
automatically whenever the handset is
synchronized with the telephone base.
General product care
Taking care of your telephone
Your cordless telephone contains sophisticated
electronic parts, so it must be treated with care.
Avoid rough treatment
Place the handset down gently. Save the
original packing materials to protect your
telephone if you ever need to ship it.

Connect and charge the battery
• Use only the adapter provided.
• Charge the battery provided with this
product only in accordance with the
instructions and limitations specified in this
manual.
• The adapter’s prongs are not designed to
hold the weight of the handset. Make sure
you connect the adapter to a wall outlet that
is in vertical or floor mount position. Do not
connect it to undermount and ceiling outlet.
