Safely Dismounting the Drive MY BOOK FOR MAC USER MANUAL CAUTION! To prevent data loss, close all active windows and applications before shutting down or disconnecting the drive. You can safely disconnect the drive from your computer by using either: • The desktop My Book for Mac icon • The My Book for Mac listing in Finder Using the Desktop My Book for Mac Icon 1. Right- or control-click the My Book for Mac icon on the desktop and select Eject "My Book for Mac": You might hear the drive power down. 2. If you ever need to remove and reinstall the WD software on your computer, or move the drive to another computer and install the software there, you will need to restore the WD software and disk image on your drive. Safely Dismounting the Drive
You can safely disconnect the drive from your computer by using either:

Restoring the WD Software and Disk Image
