MIDI Functions 49 s The Multi-Timbre Mode The Multi-Timbre mode is a special mode in which the Clavinova voices can be independently controlled on different MIDI channel numbers (1 through 15) by an external MIDI device. The Multi-Timbre mode is off when the power is initially turned on. The Multi-Timbre mode can be activated as follows: GUITAR = Multi-Timbre mode ON. GUITAR = Multi-Timbre mode OFF. ZHold [MIDI/TRANSPOSE] and press [GUITAR]. XRelease [MIDI/TRANSPOSE]. In this mode MIDI program change numbers received by the Clavinova select the corresponding Clavinova voices - i.e. the same voices selected by the panel controls. The Clavinova Common Voice Mode described on page 50 also allows multi-timbre control of the Clavinova, but with different voice assignments. q Rhythm Instrument Note Assignments The Clavinova's rhythm instruments are controlled via MIDI channel 15. The note assignments for the various rhythm instruments are given below: Note (MIDI Note No.) A1 (45) F#2 (54) G#2 (56) A#2 (58) B2 (59) C3 (60) C#3 (61) D3 (62) F3 (65) F#3 (66) G3 (67) G#3 (68) A3 (69) A#3 (70) B3 (71) C4 (72) C#4 (73) Instrument CYMBAL DAMP BRUSH ROLL HI-HAT CLOSED HEAVY CRASH CYMBAL LIGHT BASS DRUM LIGHT SNARE DRUM + RIM HEAVY RIDE CYMBAL CUP SNARE DRUM + RIM LIGHT BASS DRUM NORMAL RIM SHOT SNARE DRUM HEAVY BRUSH SHOT SNARE DRUM LIGHT HI-HAT PEDAL SNARE DRUM ECHO TOM 4 HI-HAT CLOSED NORMAL Note (MIDI Note No.) D4 (74) D#4 (75) E4 (76) F4 (77) F#4 (78) G4 (79) G#4 (80) A4 (81) A#4 (82) B4 (83) C5 (84) C#5 (85) D5 (86) D#5 (87) E5 (88) F5 (89) Instrument TOM 3 HI-HAT OPEN TOM 2 TOM 1 RIDE CYMBAL NORMAL ELECTRIC TOM 3 CRASH CYMBAL NORMAL ELECTRIC TOM 2 CRASH CYMBAL ELECTRIC TOM 1 CONGA LOW CABASA CONGA HIGH METRONOME BONGO HIGH TIMBALE LOW Note (MIDI Note No.) F#5 (90) G5 (91) G#5 (92) A5 (93) A#5 (94) B5 (95) C6 (96) C#6 (97) D#6 (99) E6 (100) F6 (101) F#6 (102) G6 (103) G#6 (104) A6 (105) A#6 (106) Instrument CLAVES TIMBALE HIGH CASTANETS CUICA LOW COWBELL CUICA HIGH HAND CLAP AGOGO LOW AGOGO HIGH BONGO LOW CUICA LOW TAMBOURINE CRASH CYMBAL TRIANGLE CLOSED BRUSH ROLL TRIANGLE OPEN s The Split Send Mode In the split send mode notes played on the left-hand section of the keyboard (to the left of and including the split point key - see "Changing the Split Point" on page 10) are transmitted on MIDI channel 2, while the upper keyboard section transmits on the MIDI channel set using the Send Channel Select function described earlier. In this mode the left- and right-hand sections of the keyboard can be used to play separate external keyboards or tone generators set to receive on the appropriate channels. The Split Send Mode is automatically turned off when the power is initially turned on. STRINGS = Split Send Mode ON. ZHold [MIDI/TRANSPOSE] and press [STRINGS]. STRINGS = Split Send Mode OFF.
