Leaving Your Vehicle With the Engine Running Torque Lock If you are parkingon a hill and don't shift your you transaxle into "P" (Park) properly, the weight'of the in vehicle may put too much force on the parking pawl the transaxle. You may find it difficult to pull the shift lever outof "P" (Park). Thisis called "torque lock." To the prevent torque lock, set parking brake and then shift into "P"(Park) properly before you leave the driver's 'P' seat. To find out how, see "Shifting Into (Park)" in the Index.
