Remove the air cieaner assembly as follows: 1. Remove the air duct clamp and separate the duct from the air cleaner cover. 2. Remove- the air cleaner cover -and detach the electrical connectoL 3. Tilt ,and pull the %ov~$o w ~ B engine to ~ the disengage it fiom the assembly. 4. Remove the old filter and install the new one. To reinstall thea r cleaner assembly, slidethe base i sections -into their former positions replace the filter and air cover. Reattach the electrical connector and duct, and ;tighten the clamp. !Re€erto the Maintenance Schedule to determine when to replace- the air filter. n See "ScheduledMaintenance Services" i the Index. , .Operating the engine withthe air cleaner off can cause -you othe~rs be burned. The air or to cleaner not only cleans air, it stops flames if the the engine backfires. If it isn't there, and-the engine backfires,you could be burned. Don't drive with it off,.and be careful working on &e engine with the air cleaner off. NOTICE: I the air cleaner is off9a backfire can causea f damaging enginefire. And, dirt can easilyget into your engine, which will damage it. Always have the air cleaner in place when you're driving.
