To replace the battery: 1. Insert a small coin or flat-tip screwdriver in the notch near the key ring to separate the bottom half from the top half of the transmitter. 2. Remove the battery and replace it with the new one. Make sure the positive (+) side of the battery faces upward. For battery replacement, use a three-volt battery, type CR2016, or equivalent. 3. Snap the transmitter back together tightly to be sure no moisture can enter. CAUTION: It can be dangerous to drive with the trunk open because carbon monoxide (CO) gas can come into your vehicle. You can't see or smell CO. It can cause unconsciousness and even death. If you must drive with the trunk open or if electrical wiring or other cable connections must pass through the seal between the body and the trunk: D Make sure all other windows are shut. D Turn the fan on your heating or cooling system to its highest speed with the setting on VENT. That will force outside air into your vehicle. See "Comfort Controls" in the Index. D If you have air outlets on or under the instrument panel, open them all the way. See "Engine Exhaust" in the Index. Trunk To unlock the trunk from the outside, insert the key into the trunk lock cylinder and turn it clockwise. 2-9
