Air Cleaner --I See "Scheduled Maintenance" in the Index. Operating the engine withthe air cleaner off can cause you or others to be burned. The cleaner air not only cleans the air,stops flameif the engine it backfires. If it isn't there, and the engine backfires, you could beburned. Don't drive with it off,and be careful working on engine with the the air cleaner off. To remove the air filter, the hood, unsnap both clips lift and remove the top. After changing filter, snap both the clips to secure the cleaner. Be sure the cleaner lid air air is correctly positioned to seal dust and contaminants out that are harmful to your engine. Make sure the fresh air hose is attached after the still filter change. Refer to the Maintenance Schedule determine when to to replace the air filter and the crankcase ventilation filter. NOTICE: If the air cleaner is off, a backfire can cause a damaging engine fire. And, can easily get dirt into your engine, which will damage it. Always have the air cleaner in place when you're driving. 6-19
