To start your 3.1 Liter engine: 1. Without pushing the acceleratorpedal, turn your ignition key toSTART. When the engine starts, let go go of the key. The idle speed will down as your engine gets warm. NOTICE: Your engineis designed to work withthe electronics in your vehicle. If you add electrical parts oraccessories, you could change the way the fuel injection system operates. Before adding electrical equipment, check withyour dealer. I f you don't, your engine might not perform properly. If you ever have to have your vehicle towed, see the part of this manual that tells howto do it without damaging your vehicle. See "Towing Your Vehicle" in the Index. NOTICE: Holding your keyin START for longer than 15 seconds at a timewill cause your battery to be drained much sooner. And excessive heat can the damage yourstarter motor. 2. If your engine won't start (or starts but then stops), it too could be flooded with much gasoline.Try pushing your accelerator pedal the way to the all floor and holding there as you hold key in it the START for about three seconds.If the car starts briefly but then stops again, the same thing, but do this time keep the pedal down fiveor six seconds. for This clears the extra gasoline the engine. from 2-15
