ATA/IDE Configuration Please select [Compatible] when you install legacy OS (Windows NT). If native OS (Windows 2000 / XP) is installed, please select [Enhanced]. Then in the option "Configure SATA as", you are allowed to set the selection from [AHCI] to [RAID] if you plan to enable RAID function. Configuration options: [AHCI], [IDE], and [RAID]. The default value is [AHCI]. 1. AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface) supports Hot Plug, NCQ and other new features that will improve SATA disk performance but IDE mode does not have these advantages. 2. Only AHCI and RAID modes support Hot Plug function. When [Compatible] is selected Combined Option It allows you to select between [SATA 0, SATA 1, SATA 2, SATA 3], [SATA 0, SATA 2, IDE 1], and [IDE 1, SATA 1, SATA 3]. If it is set to [SATA 0, SATA 2, IDE 1], then SATA1, SATA3 will not work. Likewise, if it is set to [IDE 1, SATA 1, SATA 3], then SATA0, SATA2 will not work. Because Intel® ICH6R south bridge only supports four IDE devices under legacy OS (Windows NT), you have to choose [SATA 0, SATA 1, SATA 2, SATA 3], [SATA 0, SATA 2, IDE 1], or [IDE 1, SATA 1, SATA 3] when the installed device is used with legacy OS.
