Goals for this lesson The objectives for Lesson 11 are to expose your students to the options offered by the Photomerge feature and to introduce the idea of creating composite images and even "digital illustrations" by the use of layers and a variety of selection and blending techniques. • Your students should know how to use the Photomerge Panorama, Photomerge Group Shot, Photomerge Scene Cleaner, Photomerge Faces, Photomerge Exposure, and Photomerge Style Match features. • They should understand the different layout options available for a Photomerge Panorama. • They should understand the value of capturing multiple images to take advantage of Photomerge Group Shot, Scene Cleaner and Photomerge Exposure. • Students should know how to create a composite image using selections from multiple images with layers, masks and the Defringe command. Expanding on the exercises The projects and exercises in this lesson detail practical, step-by-step techniques that are well illustrated and explained and usually quite easy to follow. For teaching opportunities, look for those dialog box options, menu commands, tool settings, and underlying concepts in each exercise that are not specifically covered. This lesson does not include exercises for either Photomerge Faces or the new Photomerge Style Match feature. You can either treat this as an extra teaching opportunity in class, or assign projects based on these tools as homework-once students have worked with four Photomerge tools, the commonality of interface and process will make the other two very easy to learn. Questions 1 What is the Photomerge Faces tool? 2 How can you quickly create the perfect vacation shot even though there are tourists cluttering your image? 3 What is a vanishing point? Answers 1 This tool enables you to combine features from multiple images to create a composite face. After selecting the photos you'd like to merge, choose File > New > Photomerge Faces. You can use one image as the base image and merge features from the others to create a new face. ADOBE PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 9 CLASSROOM IN A BOOK 31
