Chapter 1 • We recommend that you provide sufficient power when running CrossFireX™ or SLI® mode. • While running at four heavy loaded VGA cards, ensure to plug in the 4-pin extra PCIe power supply for stability. Refer to the following configuration table for installation. PCIe 3.0 operating mode for 40 lanes CPU Slot # PCIEX16/X8_1 PCIEX8_2 PCIEX16/X8_3 PCIEX8_4 Single VGA x16 - - - SLI/CFX x16 - x16 - 3-way SLI/CFX x16 x8 x8 - 4-way SLI/CFX x16 x8 x8 x8 x8 x8 x8 x8 PCIe 3.0 operating mode for 28 lanes CPU Slot # PCIEX16/X8_1 PCIEX8_2 PCIEX16/X8_3 Single VGA SLI/CFX x16 x8 - - - x8 3-way SLI/ CFX x8 x8 x8 • The PCIEX8_4 slot shares bandwidth with M.2 and U.2 ports. • 40-LANE CPU: In 4-Way configuration, if the PCIEX16/X8_1 is used in x16 mode, both M.2 and U.2 ports will be disabled. • 28-LANE CPU: - In 3-Way configuration, U.2 port will be disabled. - By default, U.2 port is disabled for other configurations.
