2.3.2 Installing the CPU heatsink The I�n��te��l® Core™ 2 Extreme / Core™ 2 Quad / Core™ 2 Duo / Pentium® dualcore / Celeron® dual-core / Celeron® processors require an Intel certified or ASUS qualified heatsink and fan assembly to ensure optimum thermal condition and performance. When you buy a boxed Intel CPU, the package includes the cooler, fan, thermal grease, installation manual, and other items that are necessary for CPU installation. • Ensure that you have applied the thermal grease to the top of the CPU before installing the heatsink and fan. • Refer to the installation manual that came with the CPU package for details on heatsink/fan assmbly and installation. To install the CPU cooler and fan 1. Place the cooler on top of the installed CPU, making sure that the four screws match the holes on the support plate. The support plate only comes with the optional CPU heatsink. If you buy a boxed Intel CPU with a bundled CPU fan, you can install the CPU fan without the support plate. 2. When you buy a boxed Intel CPU, the package includes the cooler, fan, thermal
grease, installation manual, and other items that are necessary for CPU
installation.
Ensure that you have applied the thermal grease to the top of the CPU
before installing the heatsink and fan.
Refer to the installation manual that came with the CPU package for details
on heatsink/fan assmbly and installation.

To install the CPU cooler and fan
1.
Place the cooler on top of the
installed CPU, making sure that the
four screws match the holes on the
support plate.
The support plate only comes
with the optional CPU heatsink. If
you buy a boxed Intel CPU with a
bundled CPU fan, you can install
the CPU fan without the support
plate.
