2 Knowing the Parts Left Side Refer to the diagram below to identify the components on this side of the Notebook PC. Kensington® Lock Port Emergency Shutdown USB Ports Battery Power Switch DC Power Input Jack Mic Input Phone Output Kensington® Lock Port The Kensington® lock port allows the Notebook PC to be secured using Kensington® compatible Notebook PC security products. These security products usually include a metal cable and lock that prevent the Notebook PC to be removed from a fixed object. Some security products may also include a motion detector to sound an alarm when moved. Battery Power Switch The battery power switch allows locking the battery pack power for safe transportation, storage, upgrades, or repairs. Emergency Shutdown Button In case your operating system cannot properly turn OFF or restart, the shutdown button can be pressed with a straightened paper clip to shutdown the Notebook PC. Power (DC) Input The supplied power adapter converts AC power to DC power for use with this jack. Power supplied through this jack supplies power to the Notebook PC and charges the internal battery pack. To prevent damage to the Notebook PC and battery pack, always use the supplied power adapter. 14
