BUILT-IN STITCHES 3 BUILT-IN STITCHES Straight stitching Straight stitches are used for sewing plain seams. Zigzag stitching Stitch Name Zigzag Stitch Pattern Stitch Length [mm (inch)] Stitch Width [mm (inch)] 8 0.7 (1/32) 1.5 (1/16) Zigzag Stitch 9 1.5 (1/16) 3 (1/8) ■ Zigzag stitch Turn the pattern selection dial to the Zigzag Stitch, and then start sewing. We recommend that you sew using the Straight Stitch at the beginning and end of Zigzag Stitches. (This acts as a reinforcement stitch.) ■ Zigzag (Satin) Stitch You can use the Zigzag (Satin) Stitch for making decorative stitches. When sewing a Zigzag (Satin) Stitch, use a slightly looser upper-thread tension to produce more beautiful stitches. With the pattern selection dial, the Zigzag (Satin) Stitch (number 11) can be set to one of three stitch lengths.
