Starting to sew Once you are ready to start sewing, you can start the sewing machine. The sewing speed can be adjusted using either the sewing speed controller or the foot controller. Note z When the foot controller is plugged in, ("Start/Stop" button) cannot be used to start • If you continue to hold the ("Start/Stop" button) pressed immediately after the sewing starts, the machine will sew at a slow speed. 2 sewing. When the end of the stitching is reached, press c ("Start/Stop" button) once. ■ Using the operation button Sewing can be started and stopped using the operation button ("Start/Stop" button). X The machine stops sewing with the needle down (in the fabric). Slide the sewing speed controller to the left or a right to select the desired sewing speed. Slide the sewing speed controller to the left to sew at a slower speed, or slide the speed controller to the right to sew at a faster speed. 1 When you have finished sewing, press d ("Needle Position" button). X The needle is raised. Cut the threads. e • For details, refer to "Cutting the thread" (page 56). a Sewing speed controller Press b ("Start/Stop" button) once. Note z This machine will automatically stop when the bobbin becomes almost empty. When the machine stops, replace the bobbin thread, and then press ("Start/Stop" button) to begin sewing again. ■ Using the foot controller Sewing can be started and stopped using the foot controller. 1 a "Start/Stop" button X The machine starts sewing. Turn off the sewing machine. a When connecting the foot controller, be sure to turn off the sewing machine in order to prevent the machine from accidentally being started. Sewing 53
