However, this is different under Manual focus (p. 64). z Some aperture values cannot be selected depending on the zoom position. z In this mode, the maximum shutter speed with synchronized flash is 1/250 second. The aperture value setting may therefore be changed automatically to match the synchronized flash speed even if its value was set previously. Aperture Setting Display The larger the aperture value the smaller the lens opening, allowing less light to enter the camera. Manually Setting the Shutter Speed and Aperture You can manually set the shutter speed and aperture to achieve a particular effect. Use this for shooting in special conditions, such as for time exposures. You can modify the shutter speed by turning the multi control dial. Pressing the button allows you to modify the aperture value. Each time you press the button, you change modes. However, this is different under Manual focus (p. 64). z The brightness of the LCD monitor matches the selected shutter speed and aperture value. When you select a fast shutter speed or shoot a subject in a dark place and set the flash to (Flash On with red-eye reduction) or (Flash On) the image will always be bright. z Displaying the histogram, you can shoot while confirming and adjusting image brightness.
