3.2.2 Scan/Delivery Options Screen Error Messages This section explains the error messages that may appear on the ScanFront 400 CAC/PIV device's Scan/Delivery Options screen when performing Secure E-Mail operations, along with their possible causes and remedies. Message The device has been configured to require message signatures when sending secure e-mail. The current smart card does not contain a signing certificate, so secure e-mail cannot be sent. E-mail destinations will be ignored. Any other address types will be processed. Secure Email processing failed with LDAP error: Secure Email processing failed with SMIME error: . Underlying certificate error: Secure Email processing failed with SMIME error: Secure Email processing failed with Windows error: Secure Email processing failed with certificate error: Secure Email processing failed with invalid recipient(s). Secure Email processing failed with unknown error. Cause Signing is required, but the current card does not have the proper signing certificate. There was a problem accessing or using the assigned LDAP server. There was a problem creating the SMIME message related to the signing or encrypting certificate. There was a problem creating the SMIME message. There was a problem with the underlying Windows system when trying to process a secure e-mail message. There was a problem with the signing or encrypting certificate when trying to process a secure e-mail message. Secure e-mail processing failed because there are invalid recipients included in the list. An error occurred in the system. Remedy Disable the requirement to sign e-mail messages, or use a card with a valid signing certificate. Use the returned error in to determine a resolution.
