Troubleshooting Problem No keyboard sound Any of the following symptoms while using battery power. Possible Cause 1. Power supply problem. 2. Power is not turned on. 3. Volume setting is too low. 4. Playing in the accompaniment keyboard area while the MODE button setting is CASIO CHORD or FINGERED. 5. Local Control is off. 6. Mixer channel 1 is turned off. 7. Mixer channel 1 volume setting is too low. 8. The DSP volume parameter is set too low. 9. The Expression value of the file data played back on the SMF player is too low. Low battery power Action 1. Correctly attach the AC adaptor, make sure that batteries poles (+/ -) are facing correctly, and check to make sure that batteries are not dead. 2. Press the POWER button to turn on power. 3. Use the MAIN VOLUME knob to increase volume. 4. None of the accompaniment mode indicators are lit, which means Auto Accompaniment is turned off. 5. Turn on Local Control. 6. Use the Mixer to turn channel 1 on. 7. Use the Mixer to raise the volume setting for channel 1. 8. Increase the DSP parameter value. 9. Exit then re-enter the SMF Player Mode, or change the SMF Player play-along part. Replace the batteries with a set of new ones or use the AC adaptor. See page E-14, 15 E-19 E-19 E-32 E-74 E-40 E-41 E-28 E-75 E-14, 15 • Dim power indicator • Instrument does not turn on. • Display that is flickering, dim, or difficult to read • Abnormally low speaker/headphone volume • Distortion of sound output • Occasional interruption of sound when playing at high volumes • Sudden power failure when playing at high volumes • Flickering or dimming of the display when playing at high volume • Continued sound output even after you release a key • A tone that is totally different from the one that is selected. • Abnormal rhythm pattern and demo tune play • Loss of power, sound distortion, or low volume when playing from a connected computer or external device • Sudden power failure while reading from or writing to external storage media Auto Accompaniment does not sound. Sound output does not change when key pressure is varied. Playing the keyboard sounds two tones. Different tones sound when keys in different keyboard ranges are pressed. 1. Accompaniment volume is set to 000. 2. Auto Accompaniment part Channels 6 through 10 are turned off. 3. Auto Accompaniment part Channels 6 through 10 volume setting is too low. Touch response is turned off. Layer is turned on. Split is turned on. 1. Use the ACCOMP VOLUME E-39 button to increase the volume. 2. Use the Mixer to turn the channels E-40 on. 3. Use the Mixer to raise the volume E-41 setting for the applicable channel. Press the TRANSPOSE/ E-69 FUNCTION button to turn it on. Press the LAYER button to turn off E-66 layering. Press the SPLIT button to turn off E-67 split. E-97
