Diagnostic Tools Table 3-1: Diagnostic Tools continued Tool Description Diagnostics Diagnostics tests and verifies operation of HP hardware. If Diagnostics finds a server blade hardware failure, it isolates the replaceable part, if possible. Insight Manager 7 Integrated Management Log (IML) Insight Manager 7 is a client/server application used to remotely manage HP hardware in a network environment. Insight Manager reports server blade and server blade enclosure hardware fault conditions (both failure and pre-failure) and collects data for reporting and graphing. The IML is a log of system events such as system failures or nonfatal error conditions. View events in the IML from within: • Insight Manager 7 • Operating system-specific IML utilities How to run the tool Access Diagnostics when POST detects a system configuration error. For a complete list of POST error messages, refer to the HP Servers Troubleshooting Guide. Diagnostics may be downloaded onto a diskette from the Rapid Deployment CD or from the following website: www.compaq.com/support/files For more information on viewing and printing the event list, refer to the Management CD or the Insight Manager User Guide. The IML requires operating system management drivers.
