2. While holding the lower blade guard up by the Fig. 18 1 lever, firmly rest the front of the saw base flat against the workpiece with the rear handle raised, so that the blade does not touch the workpiece (Fig. 18). 3. Depress the trigger switch to start the saw. Always allow the blade to reach full speed, and then slowly lower the blade onto the workpiece until the base is / flat against the workpiece. 4. You must release the lower blade guard lever as the blade enters the material. 5. After you complete the cut, release the trigger switch and allow the blade to come to a complete stop. After the blade has stopped, remove it from the workpiece. 6. If the corners of your pocket cut are not completely cut through, use a hand finishing saw to finish the corners. ,_ WARNING: Never tie the lower blade guard in the raised position. Leaving the blade exposed could result in serious injury. HOOK (Fig. 19) _I_ CAUTION: Always unplug the saw before hanging the saw with the hook. Fig. 19 CAUTION: Never hook the saw in a high location or on a potentially unstable surface. The hook is convenient for temporarily hanging the saw. To use the hook, simply lift up Hook the hook until it snaps into the open position.
