Destination A set of resolution and calibration settings that match the characteristics of the scan to the final output device. EPSON TWAlN provides several Destination settings to adjust your scanned image to suit the output device you intend to use. You can also define your own Destination settings. Device A piece of computer equipment that performs a specific task, such as a disk drive, a monitor, a printer, or a scanner. Also called a peripheral. Device Driver A file containing instructions that allow your computer to recognize and control a device (such as a monitor, printer, or scanner). Dithering A process in which software or an output device simulates continuous tones with repeating patterns of dots. DPI Dots per inch. A unit of measurement for resolution. The higher the value, the higher (finer) the resolution. Dropout A scanner software setting which lets you instruct your scanner to ignore a color. EPS Encapsulated PostScript. An industry standard file format supported by most applications. Exposure The brightness and contrast of an image. File Format The manner in which a graphic image is stored on the disk.
