Version: XCS 6.240 Description This document contains information specific to the release of XCS 6.240 for the EVA4000/6000/8000 and EVA4100/6100/8100. Much of the information included here is not documented elsewhere, so it is recommended that you read this information thoroughly before installing and operating the EVA4x00/6x00/8x00. NOTE: If you are using asynchronous replication, HP strongly recommends that you upgrade to XCS 6.200 or later to ensure maximum performance. Update recommendation: Recommended Product models • EVA4000/6000/8000 • EVA4100/6100/8100 These arrays are referenced as EVA4x00/6x00/8x00 throughout the document. Fixes The following issues have been resolved in XCS 6.240: • Addressed issues where inquiries to the Storage Array Control Device (SACD) or LUN 0 caused a controller termination or returned invalid formed responses. • Fixed a controller termination (termination code 0x0c210106, SCID_DRM_GSN_OUT_OF_SEQUENCE_12) that occurred due to instability and deadlock issues with DR group copies. • Addressed issues with inconsistent persistent reservation commands when the array power was cycled or the controllers were shut down. • Fixed a resource allocation issue that could result in stalled virtual disks, CSM resets, or controller resets for "kill other" terminations. • Modified the failed disk processing routine to prevent a deadlock situation that can occur when a disk drive fails during a controller mastership transfer. • Fixed a controller termination (termination code 0x02050100, Invalid Unit Cache State) that occurred when deleting a presented snapshot LUN. • Fixed an issue with DR groups not coming online when delays occur during a source-directed controller failover on the destination array in HP Continuous Access EVA configurations. • Added a recovery routine to reduce the interruption of data availability when a disk drive fails to properly log into the arbitrated loop. • Fixed a controller termination that occurred when Fibre Channel Echo ELS commands are received from a Fibre Channel switch that has not completed fabric login with the array. • Addressed an issue in the controller software that led to incorrect capacity reporting when ungrouping and grouping drives. • Fixed a Unit Stalled Too Long (USTL) condition that occurred when the DR group log became full while the array was running with one active controller. • Fixed a rescursive controller termination (termination code 0x0443011f) that could occur in an asynchronous HP Continuous Access EVA configuration after multiple attempts to complete a copy over slow links.
