• = Unit identification. Push switch to illuminate solid blue; push again to turn off. The UID mimics the status of the UID at the rear of the enclosure. Removing the front UID board 1. Power down the enclosure. a. For the MSA6X/7X: Power down any attached servers (see your server documentation). Press the On/Standby button on the disk enclosure, and wait for the system power LED to go from green to amber. Disconnect the power cords. b. For the EVA: Power down the array (controller enclosure and disk enclosures) with HP Command View EVA, or on the EVA4400 only, the Web-based operator control panel (WOCP). Powering down the controller enclosure also removes power from the disk enclosures. Disconnect the power cords. 2. The enclosure should not need to be removed from the rack. Check that there is enough slack in the cabling to pull it out of the rack several inches to access the front UID. 3. Pull off the left and right bezel ears (1, Figure 2), loosen the front panel thumbscrews (2) that secure the enclosure faceplate to the front of the rack, and pull it out several inches from the rack. Installing the front UID board 1. Insert the front UID board into the black housing. 2. Set the board and housing in place, over the tab on the enclosure. 3. Secure the housing with a T-10 screw. 4. Slide the enclosure into the rack, and tighten the thumbscrews to secure the enclosure faceplate to the rack. 5. Attach the left and right front bezel ears. 6. Reconnect the power cords. 7. Press the Power On/Standby button on the power UID bezel (located at rear of enclosure) and hold it down long enough to power up the enclosure. 8. For the EVA only: Power up any other disk enclosures attached to the array by pressing their Power On/Standby button on the power UID bezel. After power has been applied to all disk enclosures, then apply power on the controller enclosure using the power button on the power UID bezel. Verifying proper operation NOTE: After powering up, wait one minute for the system to check component status. 1 2 Verify the status LEDs for proper illumination as described in the Verifying component failure section. Lift up on the black housing to clear it from the enclosure (2) and then lift the housing and board away from the enclosure. 6. Remove the board from the housing. Page 2
