Step 3: Install MSA option kits If your plans include adding any of the available option kits for the MSA, install them now. It is easier to install these options before racking the system. Some of the available option kits include: additional controller cache, additional SCSI I/O module, additional MSA controller, and additional Fibre Channel I/O module. NOTE: Remove blanking panels only for the options being installed. For proper airflow and cooling, a blanking panel or component must be installed in the MSA chassis. NOTE: When installing an additional MSA controller, you must also obtain and install an additional Fibre Channel I/O module. Multipath environments must include separate and complete Fibre Channel fabrics and the associated hardware and software components, including two controllers, two Fibre Channel I/O modules, two Fibre Channel switches, and two HBAs in each server. NOTE: When installing additional SCSI I/O modules, HP recommends populating the SCSI I/O module bays from right-to-left, so that the attached storage enclosures are added in pre-assigned box-number order. See "Recommended SCSI cable connections" on page 42 for more information. For information about installing the options, see the instructions that came with the option kit. Go to Table 12: "MSA1500 information" on page 108 to record information about your option kits. 30 Installation procedures-All deployments

Step 3: Install MSA option kits
If your plans include adding any of the available option kits for the MSA, install them now. It is
easier to install these options before racking the system.
Some of the available option kits include: additional controller cache, additional SCSI I/O module,
additional MSA controller, and additional Fibre Channel I/O module.
NOTE:
Remove blanking panels only for the options being installed. For proper airflow and
cooling, a blanking panel or component must be installed in the MSA chassis.

When installing additional SCSI I/O modules, HP recommends populating the SCSI I/O
module bays from right-to-left, so that the attached storage enclosures are added in pre-assigned

for more information.
For information about installing the options, see the instructions that came with the option kit.
