WEBES support for the HP Superdome 2

Figure 5: Insight Remote Support WEBES support for the HP Superdome 2 WEBES monitors both the SD2 OA and the HP-UX partitions for hardware events that may require service action. WEBES subscribes to the SD2 OA WS-Man interface and to the HP-UX WBEM Providers using the system identification, IP address and login credentials it extracts from the HP SIM database (previously stored in that database by HP SIM discovery of these entities). WEBES augments the HP SIM discovery information with additional information it directly collects from the OA and uses that information to verify that the device is eligible for service. The WEBES subscription itself uses the fully qualified domain name of the CMS and port 7906 (HTTPS). The HP Remote Support Client uses information it extracts from the HP SIM database and verifies that the SD2 OA and HP-UX partitions are entitled and enabled for warranty or contract services. When WEBES receives an event from either the SD2 OA or HP-UX WBEM Providers, WEBES logs the event into its database, qualifies the event for completeness and passes the indication through its internal System Event Analyzer (SEA). SEA decodes the WS-Man or WBEM event and using a set of analysis rules determines if the event indeed does require servicing. If the event does require service, then WEBES communicates through the HP Remote Support Client to log the call to the support center backend database and retrieves from the backend the service incident log and the status of the service incident. WEBES then updates HP SIM with an event notification detailing both the nature of the service incident and the status of the service incident. As the incident is reviewed and acted upon in the support center, changes in the status 17
