Client software component The two software components (client/server) are used to monitor, manage, maintain, and configure disk array controllers and the physical and logical drives connected to the controllers, that are attached to HP NetServers. The following sections describe the two FCArray - HP LH3000r | HP NetServer FCArray Assistant - Installation and User Guide - Page 8
Assistant Server is sufficient for these tasks. The FCArray Assistant Client software, an additional component available from Hewlett-Packard, accesses this information and then organizes it through an intuitive graphical display. Errors and events are recorded in a log and if a problem is serious - HP LH3000r | HP NetServer FCArray Assistant - Installation and User Guide - Page 9
The FCArray Assistant Server executes the maintenance instructions specified by the FCArray Assistant Client. Client/Server Requirements Due to the client/server nature of the FCArray Assistant application, the FCArray Assistant Server software must be installed in one or more HP NetServers prior to - HP LH3000r | HP NetServer FCArray Assistant - Installation and User Guide - Page 10

FCArray Assistant software. After the diskettes are created, the HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM is no longer needed. The diskette(s) are then used to install the FCArray Assistant software from within Windows NT 4.0, on both the managed server and the remote management workstation. • If this is the - HP LH3000r | HP NetServer FCArray Assistant - Installation and User Guide - Page 14
select the FCArray Assistant for Windows NT in the diskette library. 5. Follow the on-screen instructions to create the FCArray Assistant diskettes (2). 6. Installation Use this procedure to install the FCArray Assistant software on both the managed Server and the remote Client management workstation. 1. Insert the FCArray Assistant Installation Diskette #1 in drive A: 2. Select Start from the menu, followed by Run at the Desktop. Chapter 4 Configuration Alarm Setup The upper window of the Alarm Setup dialog box lists the types of alarms that can be used (Pager, Fax, E-mail, and Launch Application). Chapter 4 Configuration Communication Settings The communication settings affect the E-mail, Debug and any other features in FCArray Assistant using the modem port. Alarm selections are based on the settings in Alert Preferences. To override these defaults and change the alarms for this event, check or uncheck the specific boxes.
