Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the keyboard/top cover (see Keyboard/top cover on page 26), and then remove the following components: a. Battery (see Battery on page 30) b. WLAN module (see WLAN module on page 32) c. Fan (see Fan on page 35) d. Audio/USB board (see Audio/USB board on page 34) e. Speakers (see Speakers on page 36) f. Display assembly (see Display assembly on page 38) g. System board (see System board on page 45) Remove the memory module: 1. Turn the system board upside down with the front toward you. 2. Spread the retaining tabs (1) on each side of the memory module slot to release the memory module. (The memory module tilts up.) 3. Remove the memory module (2) by pulling it away from the slot at an angle. Reverse this procedure to install a memory module. Memory module 49

Remove the memory module:
1.
Turn the system board upside down with the front toward you.
2.
Spread the retaining tabs

on each side of the memory module slot to release the memory module.

by pulling it away from the slot at an angle.
Reverse this procedure to install a memory module.
