Using traditional OS-based management software Traditionally, OS-based management required software to run on the OS. The software plugs into the appropriate service providing SNMP, WMI, or WBEM capabilities in the OS. The software collects server-specific, OS-specific, and industry-standard data. The service bundles the data and makes it available to either the System Management Homepage or a remote management application, such as HP SIM.
