4 Creating a custom Windows XP-32 image This chapter describes how to create a custom Windows XP Professional SP2 image for the blade workstation. First, as reference, the components included in the factory-installed Windows XP-32 operating system are listed. In most cases, you'll want to include these components in your custom Windows XP-32 image. 4-1 Components in the factory-installed Windows XP-32 image The Windows XP-32 operating system that is factory-installed on your blade workstation contains a number of drivers and agents. To create a custom Windows XP-32 operating system image, ensure that the following software, drivers and agents are included: • Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 • Device drivers • HP SmartArray E200i SAS controller driver • ATI ES1000 graphics driver • NVIDIA FX graphics driver • Broadcom NetXtreme 5708 Gigabit LAN driver • HP ProLiant Integrated Lights-Out 2 (iLO 2) Management Interface driver • HP ProLiant iLO 2 Advanced and Enhanced System Management Controller health driver • Management components • HP Insight Management Agents • HP System Management Homepage (SMH) for Microsoft Windows • SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) - SNMP is required for the HP Insight Management Agents and System Management Homepage. • Applications • Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 • Sun Java Virtual Machine • Adobe® Acrobat® Reader • Microsoft QFE (Quick Fix Engineering) defect fixes • Windows 2007 Time Zone Update (Q928388)-This QFE is available on the blade workstation support website as a SoftPaq. See APPENDIX A: Downloading and installing SoftPaqs and Smart Components for information on finding and downloading this SoftPaq. • HTML Help Vulnerability (Q896358)-See support.microsoft.com/kb/896358 • DhcpRequestParams function broken on Windows XP SP2 (Q885270)-See support.microsoft.com/kb/885270/en-us • DEP-enabled Windows XP SP2 computer may fail resume (Q889673)-See support.microsoft.com/kb/889673/en-us • Vulnerabilities in Windows kernel (Q890859)-See support.microsoft.com/kb/890859 The factory-installed Windows XP-32 operating system contains the following configuration parameters to optimize performance and manageability: • Remote Desktop Connection is enabled. • Internet Connection Firewall configuration. • Remote Assistance is allowed. • Remote Desktop is allowed. • Remote Graphics Software connections are allowed. • ICMP echo requests are processed. • Ports necessary for HP Systems Insight Management are enabled. • Ports necessary for Rapid Deployment Pack to re-image the blade are enabled.
