HP StorageWorks Remote Switch Version 3.1.x/4.1.x User Guide
Configuring a Remote Switch Fabric
A Remote Switch fabric requires two StorageWorks SAN Switches (2Gb, v 3x or
v4x), or StorageWorks Core Switches with identical configurations.
Remote Switch is supported over Fibre Channel for the following gateway
devices:
ATM
IP
SONET
DWDM
Most of these gateway devices include a large number of buffers to cover data
transfer over WAN.
A separate extended fabric license is not required to operate the switch at
distances much greater than 100 kilometers. This can be achieved when the switch
operates over an FCIP WAN connection.
In addition to normal switch configuration options, you can configure the
following parameters depending on the gateway requirements:
R_A_TOV: Resource Allocation Timeout Value
E_D_TOV: Error Detect Timeout Value
dataFieldSize: Maximum FC data field reported by the fabric
BB_Credit: Number of Buffer-to-Buffer credits for Nx_Port devices
NoClassF: Enable/Disable class F traffic
Suppress Class F Traffic: Disable class F traffic
Accessing the Switch using Telnet
Use telnet commands to set the following:
R_A_TOV and E_D_TOV values
Data field size
