3 The HP Setup Program Understanding the SETUP Program Setup Item Video system Video BIOS shadowing Video Submenu (Configuration group) Default Action [EGA/VGA] [Enabled] Selects video display type. Other options are: CGA 80x25, or Monochrome. Enables or disables video BIOS shadowing (for AT external video boards only). Enabling the BIOS shadowing improves the performance of your PC. Memory and Cache Submenu (Configuration group) Setup Item Default Action Memory caching Memory hole [Both] [Disabled] Parity/ECC (not available)1 [Disabled] Displays Option ROM Messages [Enabled] Shadow/Cache ISA Option ROMs [Disabled] Controls internal (L1) and external (L2) memory caching. If needed, sets a 1 MB memory hole between the 15 MB and 16 MB memory regions. If all SIMMs were 36 bits wide-this feature would enable either parity checking or ECC. This feature will allow the POST screen to display the Option ROM messages. Enabling it is recommended when installing an accessory board, but it can be disabled after. Enables shadowing and caching for nonPlug-and-Play ISA Option ROMs in order to improve the system performance. Note that some Option ROMs cannot be shadowed. 1.
