Product Description 1.6 Intel® G35 Express Chipset The Intel G35 Express chipset consists of the following devices: • Intel 82G35 Graphics and Memory Controller Hub (GMCH) with Direct Media Interface (DMI) interconnect • Intel 82801HB I/O Controller Hub (ICH8) with DMI interconnect The GMCH component provides interfaces to the CPU, memory, PCI Express, and the DMI interconnect. The component also provides integrated graphics capabilities supporting 3D, 2D, and display capabilities. The ICH8 is a centralized controller for the board's I/O paths. Either the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3500 (Intel GMA X3500) graphics controller (contained within the 82G35 GMCH) is used, or a PCI Express x16 add-in card can be used. Intel G35 Graphics Subsystem
The Intel G35 Express chipset contains two separate, mutually exclusive graphics
options.
Either the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3500 (Intel GMA X3500)
graphics controller (contained within the 82G35 GMCH) is used, or a PCI Express x16
add-in card can be used.
When a PCI Express x16 add-in card is installed, the Intel
GMA X3500 graphics controller is disabled.
