The following illustration shows the locations of the drive bays. The following list describes some of the drives that you can install in each bay and their height requirements: 1 Bay 1 - Maximum height: 25.8 mm (1.0 in.) 2 Bay 2 - Maximum height: 43.0 mm (1.7 in.) 3.5-inch diskette drive (preinstalled in some models) v Optical drive such as CD drive or DVD drive (preinstalled in some models) v 3.5-inch hard disk drive (requires a Universal Adapter Bracket, 5.25 to 3.5-inch) * 3 Bay 3 - Maximum height: 43.0 mm (1.7 in.) v 5.25-inch removable media drive v Optical drive such as CD drive or DVD drive v 3.5-inch hard disk drive (requires a Universal Adapter Bracket, 5.25 to 3.5-inch) * v 5.25-inch removable media drive 4 Bay 4 - Maximum height: 25.8 mm (1.0 in.) 3.5-inch hard disk drive (preinstalled) * You can obtain a Universal Adapter Bracket, 5.25 to 3.5-inch, from a local computer retailer or by contacting the Customer Support Center. Notes: 1. Drives that are greater than 43.0 mm (1.7 in.) high cannot be installed. 2. Install removable media (tape or CD) drives in an accessible bay (bay 2 or 3). Installing a drive To install an internal drive, follow these steps: 1. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the cover" on page 10. 2. If your computer has an optical drive, you might need to remove the signal and power cables from the drive. 3. Installing
a
drive
To
install
an
internal
drive,
follow
these
steps:
1.
Remove
the
computer
cover.
See
“Removing
the
cover”
on
page
10.

If
your
computer
has
an
optical
drive,
you
might
need
to
remove
the
signal
and
power
cables
from
the
drive.
3.
If
the
drive
you
are
installing
is
a
removable-media
drive,
remove
the
bay
panel
from
the
front
bezel.
