Customizing Your Phone To control how long the backlight stays on for Java applications: 1 From the main menu, select Settings > Display/Info > Backlight > Java Timer. 2 Select the number of seconds you want the backlight to stay on for Java applications. To set the keypad backlight to light up only in low light conditions: 1 From the main menu, select Settings > Display/Info > Backlight > Sensor. 2 Set this option to On. Temporarily Turning Off Transmissions Sometimes you may want to have your phone on, but turn off its ability to make and receive calls and other transmissions. To set your phone so that it cannot make or receive phone calls, BoostTM Walkie-Talkie calls, or transfer data: 1 From the main menu, select Settings > Advanced > Transmitters. 2 Set this option to Off. This icon 9 appears. Note: While powering on your phone, you can turn transmitters off by pressing p for more than 5 seconds. To restore your phone's ability to do all these things: Set this option to On. Note: When Transmitters is set to Off, your phone's Bluetooth capability is disabled, and all active Bluetooth connections are dropped. Using Settings Settings contains many submenus that let you customize your phone. For information on applying groups of settings to your phone together, see "Profiles" on page 186. Note: Because your phone's audio player is actually a Java application that you access from the main menu, the settings described here will not affect the audio player unless they affect Java applications. 181
