3 Adjust settings. The maximum value for auto ISO sensitivity can be selected using Maximum sensitivity (the minimum value for auto ISO sensitivity is automatically set to ISO 200; note that if the value selected for Maximum sensitivity is lower than the value currently selected for ISO sensitivity, the value selected for Maximum sensitivity will be used). In exposure modes e and g, sensitivity will only be adjusted if underexposure would result at the shutter speed selected for Minimum shutter speed (1/4000-1 s; in modes f and h, ISO sensitivity will be adjusted for optimal exposure at the shutter speed selected by the user). Slower shutter speeds may be used if optimum exposure can not be achieved at the ISO sensitivity value selected for Maximum sensitivity. Press J to exit when settings are complete. S When On is selected, the viewfinder and rear control panel show ISO-AUTO. When sensitivity is altered from the value selected by the user, these indicators blink and the altered value is shown in the viewfinder and rear control panel. A Auto ISO Sensitivity Control Noise is more likely at higher sensitivities. Use the High ISO NR option in the shooting menu to reduce noise (see page 291). When a flash is used, the value selected for Minimum shutter speed is ignored in favor of the option selected for Custom Setting e1 (Flash sync speed, 0 311). Note that ISO sensitivity may be raised automatically when auto ISO sensitivity control is used in combination with slow sync flash modes (available with SB-900, SB-800, SB-600, and SB-400 flash units), possibly preventing the camera from selecting slow shutter speeds. 113
