Useful Information Problem The handset or base unit does not announce the displayed caller's name correctly. The caller list/incoming phone numbers are not edited automatically. I cannot dial the phone number edited in the caller list. The display exits the caller list while searching. Cause & solution L Name pronunciation may vary. This feature may not pronounce all names correctly. L The handset or base unit will announce each letter of abbreviations, such as "Co." and "Inc.". L Caller ID supports name of up to 15 letters. If the caller's name has more than 15 letters, the name will not be announced correctly. L The Caller ID number auto edit feature is turned off. Turn it on and try again (page 40). L You need to call back the edited number to activate Caller ID number auto edit. L The phone number you dialed might have an incorrect edited pattern (for example, the long distance "1" or the area code is missing). Edit the phone number with another pattern (page 29). L The handset automatically exits after 1 minute of inactivity. Answering system Problem I cannot listen to messages from a remote location. The other party complains that they cannot leave a voice message. "E" flashes and the ANSWER ON indicator flashes rapidly. No new messages are recorded. I cannot operate the answering system. During message playback, the unit rings and cancels playback. The message indicator on the handset flashes slowly. Cause & solution L A touch tone phone is required for remote operation. L Press the remote code correctly and press each key firmly (page 52). L The answering system is off. Turn it on (page 53). L The recording time is set to "Greeting only". Select "1min", "2min", or "3min" (page 55). L The memory is full. Erase unnecessary messages (page 49). L Message memory is full. Erase unnecessary messages (page 49). L Someone is operating the answering system. L If someone is talking on a conference call, you cannot operate the answering system. Try again later. L A call is being received. Answer the call and start again from the beginning after hanging up. L New messages have been recorded.
