Answering System Features Answering system commands You can also operate the answering system by pressing dial keys. To use the following commands, press {MENU} (middle soft key), then press {PLAY}. Key {1} or {} {4} {5} {8} {9} {0} {CLEAR} or {*}{4} {*}{5} Command Repeat message (during playback)*1 Skip message (during playback) Play new messages Play all messages Turn answering system on Stop playback*2 Turn answering system off Erase this message (during playback) Erase all messages *1 If pressed within the first 5 seconds of a message, the previous message will be played. *2 To resume operation, press a command key within 15 seconds, or the voice guidance will start. Calling back (Caller ID subscribers only) If Caller ID information was received for the call, you can call the caller back while listening to a message. Press {CALL} during playback. Note: L To edit the number before calling back, press {EDIT} repeatedly to select the desired format (page 28), then press {CALL}, {C}, or {s}. Memory capacity The total recording capacity (including your greeting message and caller messages) is about 21 minutes. A maximum of 64 messages (including a greeting message) can be recorded. L If message memory becomes full: - E flashes on the base unit. - the ANSWER ON indicator flashes rapidly (if the answering system is turned on). - the unit announces "Memory full" when operating the answering system. To record additional messages, erase unnecessary messages. L If less than 3 minutes of recording time is available, the unit will announce the remaining recording time when operating the answering system. L Messages are retained even if a power failure occurs. All messages are saved until you erase them. (Flash memory message backup) L The total recording capacity may be reduced by the calling party's background noise. Note: L If message memory becomes full, the unit will automatically switch to the "Greeting only" mode. New messages will not be recorded. If you have recorded your own greeting message, that same greeting message will be announced to callers even though their messages will not be recorded. If you have not recorded your own greeting message, the pre-recorded message used for "Greeting only" mode will be announced to callers (page 46).
